Sea level rise and coastal hazards are putting human and natural communities along the coasts at greater risk than ever.

What Can Be Done
Supporting Coastal Management Decisions and Adaptation
The Coastal Resilience project aims to provide planners and other decision-makers
with the tools they need to understand reasonable future impacts of
flooding from sea level rise and storms and to plan and adapt accordingly.
The Coastal Resilience project provides support in planning and science
through:
• Better predictions of sea-level rise & hazards, and
• Visualization tools to help decision-makers manage for community resilience
through natural resource protection.
The Coastal Resilience project also provides support for action on
the ground and in policy through:
• A nationwide analysis of policy approaches,
• An evaluation of the application of various approaches in the New
York/Long Island context, and
• Recommendations for adaptation that jointly address losses to human
and natural communities
